The recovery from the recent fire at the Scientific Research Institute of Heart Surgery and Organ Transplantation is nearing completion. This information was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Health.

As reported by the director of the institute, Jalil Sheishenov, the repair work is already at the final stage, and within the next ten days, the team intends to fully return to their previous premises.

“Despite temporary difficulties, our work continues. Over the past month, 52 open-heart surgeries and 56 angiographic procedures have been performed at the institute. We have also strengthened our outreach consulting services, conducting 16 consultations in maternity hospitals and perinatal centers, which significantly exceeds previous monthly figures,” the statement emphasizes.

Particular attention is being paid to modern treatment methods. Over the month, five surgeries have been performed using a minimally invasive method—mini-thoracotomy—as well as life-saving surgeries for patients with severe cardiovascular diseases, including newborns.

The institute has also organized regular CT diagnostics for complex congenital heart defects, which are temporarily conducted at the NCCHT on Saturdays. In addition, one echocardiogram has been received at the NCCHT. The work of the diagnostic service has been improved, and processes in the consulting and diagnostic department have been optimized to reduce waiting times, especially among children with congenital heart defects.

According to the director, after returning to the main building, there are plans to further increase the volume of high-tech cardiac surgical assistance, improve the accessibility of consultations, and strengthen the staffing potential of the institution.
