According to the prosecutor's office, an expanded interagency meeting was held on February 23, 2026, focusing on issues related to cyber fraud conducted via the internet, as well as other crimes in the banking sector.
The event was attended by the prosecutor of the Manas district, Syrgakbek Akylbek uulu, the head of the Manas district police department, J. Toktorbaev, and his deputies A. Sharshenbaev, B. Alymkulov, U. Zholdoshov, as well as the deputy akim of the Manas district, A. Batyrbekova, and representatives from banks.
Participants discussed the most common schemes of internet fraud. In particular, they talked about deceiving citizens through phone calls and messengers, cases of illegal hacking of social media accounts, compromising electronic wallets, and scamming citizens attracted to dubious projects promising high profits with minimal risks.
The event also emphasized the importance of combating cybercrime in the context of rapidly advancing digitalization. Participants noted the need to improve coordination between government agencies and the private sector.
As a result of the meeting, representatives of government institutions and banks expressed their readiness for a systematic fight against cyber fraud and other high-tech crimes in the district. The importance of raising the level of digital literacy among the population and informing citizens about potential threats online was also highlighted.
The Manas district prosecutor's office urges residents to remain vigilant:
- beware of communicating with strangers online;
- do not share your personal data, passwords, and bank card details with outsiders;
- avoid clicking on suspicious links;
- warn your loved ones about potential risks of cybercrime.
The prosecutor's office also reported that upon detecting the first signs of fraud, one should immediately contact law enforcement to prevent possible damage.
