In Almaty, the police have proposed tightening the requirements for couriers and delivery aggregators. This statement was made during a meeting involving representatives from major services, the city prosecutor's office, and the public, as reported by Informburo.kz.

The reason for this meeting was the detention of a courier that occurred on February 14, 2024. The man, who delivered flowers, began to harass a girl and was ultimately arrested for seven days.

Aydyn Kabduldinov, the head of the Almaty police department, emphasized that couriers have access to citizens' personal data and residential premises, which necessitates the introduction of strict control measures.

A representative from the prosecutor's office reminded the participants of the importance of adhering to legislation and the legality of the status of all employees during the discussion. Changes to the internal regulations of delivery services and the need to eliminate incentives for "accelerated" delivery that may threaten safety were also discussed.

Kabduldinov added that if systemic changes are not implemented, the police department will be forced to initiate additional regulatory measures. He also noted that the development of the digital economy in the city must go hand in hand with the creation of effective mechanisms for protecting citizens.
