Bayaly Sarkulov, a resident of the village of Sadovoe in the Moscow district of Chui region, shared the history of his native village.

Sarkulov mentioned that Sadovoe has a history spanning 200 years. From 1850 to 1990, it was known as Chochkolu. As a result of an administrative-territorial reform, the rural districts of Aleksandrovka, Sadovoe, and Sretenka were merged, and now this rural district is called Min-Bulak, with its center in Sadovoe, where 34,622 people reside. The reaction of local residents to the name change was mixed: some supported it, while others opposed it. Ultimately, it was decided that the name would remain Min-Bulak rural district.

Sarkulov added that the village is located along the Bishkek–Kara-Balta road and borders Belovodsk and Aleksandrovka. “More than 10,600 people live in Sadovoe, representing 36 different nationalities. Most people are engaged in agriculture and livestock farming. The village has 2 secondary schools, 1 private school, 1 kindergarten, 1 House of Culture, 3 mosques, and a social housing area where 67 families reside. The reform has prompted us to delve deeper into the history of our region,” he noted.

Historical sources indicate that from 1850 to 1900, the village served as a winter encampment where the brother of Baytik Baatyr, Cholponkul biy, lived. In the 1870s, farmers from Ukraine began to settle here. Later, when the Dungans started arriving from China, Cholponkul biy allocated land to them. Initially, about 30 Dungans settled on these marshy lands overgrown with reeds. Since wild boars roamed the area, the region was named Chochkolu.

In the early years of collective farms in the USSR, in the early 1930s, a mass tree planting began in the village, which led to its renaming to Sadovoe. “This information is actively discussed among local residents and is significant for the history of the village,” Sarkulov added.
