In the country, more than 40 children live with spinal muscular atrophy
A social initiative called "SMA Kyrgyzstan" has begun its work in the republic. This project was launched by the "Unity of Opportunities" foundation, as reported on the organization's official website.
According to the foundation, more than 40 children in the country suffer from spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Thanks to the assistance of medical professionals and government support, they have access to modern treatment methods, including the drug Risdiplam.
However, treatment alone is not sufficient. Daily, children require special devices for respiratory support and coughing assistance, verticalizers, and other rehabilitation equipment. Without this, therapy cannot be comprehensive, as emphasized by the foundation's representatives.
In this regard, the foundation has announced the start of a fundraising campaign to acquire the necessary equipment for children across the country. The organization assures that the fundraising process and the transfer of equipment will take place in an open and transparent manner.
