The municipality has suggested that apartment owners independently purchase the necessary parts for new elevators.
Bishkek City Hall reported that homeowners are responsible for purchasing components for the installation of new elevators, citing provisions of the Housing Code.
This information was announced by Vice Mayor Ramiz Aliyev, and Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Dastan Bekeshev published his response.
“The power cable that supplies electricity to the elevator equipment is part of the internal building electrical system and belongs to all property owners. The municipal enterprise 'Bishkekgorlift' is responsible for the maintenance and operation of elevators under existing contracts. However, internal electrical networks do not fall within the service area of this enterprise unless otherwise specified in the contract,” the response states.
The city hall also emphasized that replacing the cable is mandatory if it does not meet the necessary power and load requirements, which is critically important for the safe operation of elevators.
It is worth noting that in 2026, 'Bishkekgorlift' plans to update 100 elevators.
