In the context of the unstable situation in the Middle East, the UAE authorities have issued instructions to hotels regarding the necessity of extending the stay for guests whose check-out dates have expired, without charging additional fees. If you have become a victim of eviction or are about to be evicted, follow the advice below.
- Stay calm and confidently assert your right to remain. Inform the hotel staff that according to the instructions from the UAE authorities, your stay should be extended without payment during the period of restrictions.
- Do not leave your room voluntarily. Do not pack your belongings or sign eviction documents until you are offered alternative accommodation and the reasons for your eviction are clarified.
- Request to meet with a responsible representative. Ask for the hotel manager to document your request for an extension of stay in the hotel’s official records.
- If you are being pressured, demand that the police be called. Emergency service number: 999.
- In case of persistent eviction, either call the police yourself or ask hotel staff to do so for official documentation of the situation.
- Do not pay for your stay out of your own pocket. Payment may result in the money not being refunded.
- Document the situation. Take photos and notes: the name of the hotel, the reception desk, notifications, correspondence, bills. Write down the name of the staff member demanding eviction and keep all receipts and documents.
- Immediately contact the embassy or consulate of the Kyrgyz Republic. Provide: the name of the hotel, its address, your room number, full name, phone number, number of accompanying persons (including children and elderly), and the hotel’s demands (eviction, payment, relocation).
- If you have already been evicted, try to stay in the lobby or on the hotel premises until the police arrive or the issue is resolved with the hotel administration. Also, contact foreign institutions and provide all details.
