In recent years, there has been an increase in cases of fraud in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Fraudsters use various technologies and psychological manipulations to illegally obtain citizens' funds.
The most common schemes involve deception through phone calls, messages in messengers, and social networks. Offenders often pose as bank employees, law enforcement officers, or even relatives, demanding money transfers or the disclosure of confidential information under various pretexts.
As emphasized in the statement, fraudsters most often try to obtain bank card details, one-time codes from SMS, access to online banking, or personal information, forcing citizens to click on suspicious links.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that employees of banks and government institutions never request such information over the phone, such as confirmation codes, passwords, or complete card details.
There are also cases where citizens are drawn into illegal activities, promising "rewards" for temporarily using bank cards (the so-called "dropping"). Transferring one's details to third parties is an offense and can lead to criminal liability.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs strongly urges citizens to be vigilant, not to trust suspicious calls and messages, to avoid sharing personal data, and to immediately report such incidents to law enforcement agencies.
