The city administration has presented a project for the automation of parking spaces with new tariffs.
The capital's authorities are reviving the initiative to introduce paid parking. In Bishkek, the city administration has presented for discussion in the Bishkek City Council a draft resolution concerning the regulation of municipal parking lots and spaces.
The proposed reforms aim to eliminate unauthorized parking and implement an automated system that allows for convenient payment.
A key innovation will be clear zoning. In the central part of the city, designated as the "red zone," the cost of parking will be 50 soms per hour, which should help alleviate the most congested areas. For the "blue zone" and other districts, the tariffs will be 40 and 30 soms respectively, which should help organize parking in residential and business areas. The implementation of this initiative implies a complete transition from cash collection to digital technologies.
Car owners who refuse to pay according to the new tariffs risk facing significant fines, ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 soms.
