Where is the new system being implemented?
Currently, QR payment is functioning in test mode on five streets. Soon, there are plans to expand the project to cover another 16 streets, mainly in the city center, known as the golden square. According to the municipal enterprise "City Road Transport Infrastructure," 1,000 QR codes will be installed throughout 2026. However, these changes will not affect private parking. What are the financial indicators for parking?
The municipality claims that the new payment method will be more convenient for citizens, as there is no longer a need to hand money to parking attendants. The city hall notes that previously, funds might not have reached the budget.“Now funding will go directly to the local budget, which will help reduce corruption risks,” emphasize representatives of the city hall.
Bakay Asylbek uulu, the director of the municipal enterprise "City Road Transport Infrastructure," shared the results of testing QR payments on the initial sections and noted an increase in revenue.
According to him, on Turusbekova Street (from Moskovskaya to Chuy Avenue), collections before the implementation of QR codes amounted to about 37,400 soms per month. After transitioning to the digital system, this amount increased to 258,292 soms. On Orozbekova Street (from Toktogula to Kievskaya), collections rose from 22,000 soms to 51,251 soms per month.
It is important to note that fines are imposed for unpaid parking: 1,000 soms for individuals and 5,000 soms for legal entities.
Journalists from Kaktus.media visited one of the sections where the new system has already been implemented - on Orozbekova Street. At noon, around 1:30 PM, the situation was ambiguous.
Despite the presence of signs with QR codes, chaos in the parking lot continues to exist. Other cars are lining up behind vehicles parked in the parking pockets, significantly narrowing the roadway to one or one and a half lanes, creating traffic jams. It remains an open question whether the city hall is receiving payment from those who park in the second row and obstruct traffic.
