In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, an update to the payment system for municipal parking lots and spaces is planned. This information was announced by representatives of the city administration.
The main goal of the reform is to organize parking spaces, reduce the load on the street and road network, and create more comfortable conditions for the operation of the urban transport system. In this regard, the city administration has developed a draft resolution of the Bishkek City Council titled "On the Regulation of Municipal Parking and Parking Activities in the City of Bishkek."
According to data presented by the agency, the draft includes the following key points:
- approval of a new Regulation on municipal parking and parking lots in the city;
- establishment of new rates for parking vehicles;
- introduction of a special tariff for parking with an automated payment system with hourly payment.
In the city center, it is planned to implement a differentiated (zonal) parking payment scheme, where the cost will vary from 30 to 50 soms depending on the specific zone.
As for parking with an automated time accounting system, it is planned to establish an hourly rate:
- 30-50 soms for the first two hours;
- 20 soms for each subsequent hour.
“The automation of the process will improve administration, reduce the time during which parking spaces are occupied by vehicles in high-demand areas, and create conditions for the phased modernization of parking infrastructure,” the city administration noted in a statement.
