Sowing of Spring Grain Crops Has Begun in the Chui Region

In the Chui region, the sowing of spring grain crops has begun in several districts and regions.

According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, this spring it is planned to sow a total of 32.6 thousand hectares of cereal crops across the republic. In particular, in the Chui region, 1.7 thousand hectares have been allocated for wheat, and 6.3 thousand hectares for barley.

The Chui region ranks first in the area planned for barley sowing. The Jalal-Abad region is in second place with 3.2 thousand hectares, followed by the Batken region with 3.1 thousand hectares and the Osh region with 0.9 thousand hectares.

As for winter crops, it is planned to sow 250 thousand hectares across the republic. In practice, the area occupied by winter wheat amounted to 152.2 thousand hectares. Of this area, 83.5 thousand hectares are non-irrigated (rainfed) lands, while 68.6 thousand hectares are irrigated.

Winter barley was sown on 9.8 thousand hectares: 2.9 thousand hectares irrigated and 6.8 thousand hectares rainfed.

In particular, in the Chui region, the area occupied by winter crops amounted to 100.2 thousand hectares:

- winter wheat: 94.56 thousand hectares (of which 37.4 thousand hectares are irrigated, 57.1 thousand hectares are rainfed);

- winter barley: 5.6 thousand hectares (of which 2.6 thousand hectares are irrigated and 3.2 thousand hectares are rainfed).
