Previously, the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic annulled the decisions of the previous instances and sent the case for a new hearing in the Lenin District Court.
During the new court proceedings, the defense of the journalist insists on a complete cessation of criminal prosecution, relying on the conclusions of international organizations. In particular, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention classified the journalist's arrest as illegal and called for her release.
The lawyers demand the immediate release of Mahabat Tajibek kyzy from custody while the case is being reviewed.
It should be noted that the journalist and head of the Temirov LIVE project was detained in January 2024 and subsequently sentenced to six years in prison on charges of inciting mass riots.
After the previous sentence was annulled by the Supreme Court, the case is being reconsidered; however, the issue of the preventive measure and possible release remains unresolved.
