As reported by lawyer Mahabat Tajibek kyzy, Asel Argymbaeva, a journalist and head of the Temirov LIVE project, will be transferred from the colony to a pre-trial detention center. The defense insists that the state comply with the decisions of international human rights organizations and institutions.

The lawyer emphasized that they will strive to ensure adherence to the recommendations of international bodies, including the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, which previously recognized the journalist's arrest as unlawful and called for her immediate release.

Recently, the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan returned Mahabat Tajibek kyzy's case for reconsideration in the district court.

The judicial panel annulled previous decisions, and the new hearing will be conducted by a new panel of judges in the district court.

Mahabat Tajibek kyzy is the head of the media projects Temirov LIVE and "Ayt ait dese," as well as the wife of investigative journalist Bolot Temirov. She was detained in January 2024 along with other members of the media projects, who were charged with organizing mass riots.

It is worth noting that on October 10, 2024, the Lenin District Court of Bishkek sentenced her to six years in prison. Subsequently, the Bishkek City Court upheld the sentence, and in February 2025, the Supreme Court confirmed the decisions of the lower courts.

The defense filed a petition for reconsideration of the case based on newly discovered circumstances, after which the Supreme Court decided to return the case for a new hearing in the district court.

Previously, international human rights organizations and representatives of the media community appealed to the authorities of Kyrgyzstan, urging them to review the journalist's sentence. The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention indicated that her detention is unlawful and should be overturned.

The international human rights organization Amnesty International and other organizations also called for the journalist's release. Marie Strazhers, Director of Amnesty International for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, noted that the authorities of Kyrgyzstan have the opportunity to either comply with international human rights obligations or continue to ignore them.
