The Malybaev Opera and Ballet Theater in Bishkek has received a new D-274 model piano from Steinway & Sons. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture.
The acquisition of the instrument took place on December 15, and according to Minister Mirbek Mambetaliev, its price amounted to 25 million soms.
“The issue of updating pianos in the theater has not been resolved since the 1980s and 1990s. There are about twenty manufacturers of concert pianos in the world, however, 94% of renowned pianists prefer Steinway pianos for performances with symphony orchestras,” the Ministry of Culture added.
