In 2025, the activities of 35 pawnshops were suspended in Kyrgyzstan. This information was provided by Suyorkul Ashimzhan uulu, head of the Financial Market Regulation and Supervision Service, in an interview for the Kabar agency.

He explained that in the event of violations identified under the Code of Offenses, penalty sanctions are applied to the pawnshops. If illegal actions continue, this may lead to the revocation of their licenses.

“According to the new amendments to the legislation, the interest rates of pawnshops should not exceed 30%. If they set higher rates or continue to violate the law, we will initiate unscheduled inspections. In case of violations, fines are imposed, and if illegal activities persist, measures may be taken up to the revocation of the license,” he added.

According to the regulator, about 40 pawnshops were inspected last year, and fines were imposed on them, as well as directives issued. The largest fine amounted to 310,000 soms.

Suyorkul Ashimzhan uulu noted that in 2025, 35 licenses were suspended, and most companies rectified the identified violations within 30 days.

We remind you that the day before, the head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev, demanded a full inspection of all pawnshops. According to him, inspections should be conducted jointly with representatives of the Tax Service and the National Bank.
