In Kyrgyzstan, a campaign has begun to import mineral fertilizers aimed at meeting the agricultural needs for 2026. According to information from the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the total demand of farmers in the republic this season is 182.8 thousand tons.
The main part of the required volume consists of nitrogen fertilizers — 96.2 thousand tons, which play a key role in conducting spring fieldwork. Additionally, 71.5 thousand tons of phosphorus and 15.2 thousand tons of potassium fertilizers are needed.
As of January 20 of this year, 21.5 thousand tons of fertilizers have been imported into the country. Currently, private companies across the country have 19.2 thousand tons of products in stock, which allows for the preparation for the agronomic season to begin.
This year, new control measures for supplies have been introduced. In accordance with the directive from the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine, mandatory accounting for the import of mineral fertilizers through border phytosanitary control points has been established since the end of December last year. Now, all products entering the country by both road and rail are subject to strict registration. This will allow the agency to monitor the market situation in real-time and prevent shortages in key regions of the country.
