Aynura Matraimova, a resident of the village of Boston located in the Kadamjai district of the Batken region, has returned to her homeland after working in Russia and is now engaged in creating handmade wedding baskets, which provides her with a stable income. A Turmush correspondent spoke with her.

Since 2022, Aynura has started to develop her craft. Previously, she worked in Russia, but in her free time, she was passionate about handicrafts. "I realized that I could successfully earn a living at home thanks to my hobby, and I returned to my native village. The demand for handmade wedding baskets is increasing every year," she shares.

The price of wedding baskets ranges from 1500 to 2500 soms depending on the size and quality. These items are usually used to decorate tables at weddings and other celebrations, adding a special atmosphere. Aynura also offers rental services: a set of 7-8 baskets for one day costs 2500 soms.

In addition to wedding baskets, Aynura creates flower-shaped lamps from foam rubber, decorative bouquets, and piggy banks. These products are popular for birthdays and anniversaries. In her near future plans, the craftswoman intends to start decorating photo zones for the "söyko saluu" [putting on the headband] ceremony.

Previously, Aynura made bouquets from fresh fruits, but now she has switched to creating compositions from dried fruits. "With a creative approach, one can successfully develop and earn even in rural conditions," emphasizes Aynura Matraimova.
