Dokdurbek Sarbaev, a master of folk crafts from the village of Petrovka in the Moscow District of the Chuy Region, creates original products from horns, bones, and wood.

According to a Turmush correspondent, 68-year-old Dokdurbek is considered a true professional in his field. His works, made from animal horns and bones, as well as wood, not only attract attention but also become a symbol of his many years of labor and creative approach.

Dokdurbek was born on January 1, 1957, in the Jayil District of the Chuy Region. At the age of three, his family moved to Belovodsk, where he received his education. After school, he served in the Soviet Army and worked at a rural bus depot, but soon realized that his true calling was in craftsmanship.

After receiving professional education at one of the vocational schools in Frunze (modern Bishkek), Dokdurbek began to develop his skills. In 1982, he joined the "Kiyal" association, where he gained extensive knowledge in creating products from horns, bones, and wood. His works, such as chess sets, checkers, and various decorations, have been recognized at district, regional, and national exhibitions, as well as at the World Nomad Games.

Currently, Dokdurbek Sarbaev leads a handicraft club at the "Tañ nuru" Children's Creativity Center in Belovodsk, where he shares his experience and inspires the younger generation to engage in creativity.

In his account of the work process, the master shared some secrets. To modify the horn, he heats it over a low flame with the addition of oil. This stage takes 10-15 minutes, after which the material becomes flexible and easy to work with. In addition to products made from horns and bones, Dokdurbek also actively works with wood, creating pieces that are exhibited at exhibitions or become gifts for loved ones.

Dokdurbek is the father of two children and the grandfather of three grandchildren. His wife, Gulnara, teaches foreign languages, while his son, Zhanibek, continues the family traditions by delving into the art of jewelry-making.
