Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan: There is no reason to panic

The agency provided clarifications regarding the situation with the Nipah virus

The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan assures that the healthcare system is ready for a rapid response to potential epidemiological threats. This statement was made in the context of the current situation with the Nipah virus in the country.

An outbreak of this disease has been recorded in India, leading to fatalities and the implementation of quarantine measures.

“To prevent the possible importation of the virus, sanitary and quarantine measures at the border have been strengthened. Sanitary and quarantine workers monitor the health status of arrivals, as well as control vehicles and carry out preventive measures in accordance with established norms,” the ministry noted.

Furthermore, the ministry maintains constant contact with the World Health Organization and international partners for information exchange and coordination of preventive and operational actions.

It is worth clarifying that the Nipah virus is an acute infection that can cause serious illnesses and inflammation of the brain.

The carriers of this virus are bats, and infection can occur through contact with infected animals, consumption of food containing biological secretions, or as a result of close contact with an infected person.

The duration of the illness varies from several days to two weeks. The main symptoms include: high fever, headache, cough, difficulty breathing, weakness, seizures, and altered consciousness.
