Ministry of Health: No cases of Nipah virus detected in Kyrgyzstan, sanitary control at the border has been strengthened

According to the Ministry of Health, there are no registered cases of the Nipah virus in Kyrgyzstan. In this regard, enhanced sanitary and quarantine control measures have been implemented at the state border.


The Ministry of Health also reports that the epidemiological situation is under strict control of the sanitary and epidemiological authorities.

The Nipah virus is a zoonotic infectious disease from the Paramyxoviridae family, capable of causing severe respiratory illnesses and inflammation of the brain (encephalitis).

The main carriers of the virus are bats. Infection can occur in the following ways:


The incubation period ranges from several days to two weeks. The main symptoms include: high fever, headache, cough, difficulty breathing, and general weakness. In severe cases, loss of consciousness and seizures may occur.

To prevent the introduction of the infection into the country, sanitary control measures are being strengthened at the border. Health monitoring of arrivals, transport control, and preventive measures are being conducted. Medical institutions have been instructed on the early detection and isolation of potential patients.

The Ministry of Health is actively cooperating with the World Health Organization and international partners to exchange current epidemiological information.

Citizens are advised to follow personal hygiene rules, avoid contact with wild animals, refrain from consuming raw or undercooked products, and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms arise.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes that there is no reason for panic, as the healthcare system is prepared for any situation. Official data will only be provided through authorized state sources.
