In Kyrgyzstan, there is one state lawyer for every 21,000 people

In some regions, lawyers are completely absent

During a meeting of the committee on constitutional legislation, state structure, and local self-government, Deputy Minister of Justice Orzbek Sydykov reported that in Kyrgyzstan, there is one lawyer for every 21,000 people, while the services of lawyers are funded by the state.

Sydykov also provided examples: in the USA, there is one lawyer for 300 people, and in European countries, there is one lawyer for between 500 and 2,000 people.

He noted that in the Chon-Alai, Nookat, Jumgal, and Ak-Tal districts, there are no lawyers at all, and in the Aravan district, where a significant number of people live, there is only one lawyer working.

In addition, the Ministry of Justice presented a draft law that is being considered in the Jogorku Kenesh. This document aims to ensure the accessibility of legal services in all regions, including hard-to-reach and remote areas. As part of the draft law, it is planned to introduce the concept of a "localized license," which will be issued to those who could not score the required number of points on the qualification exam, allowing them to work in areas where lawyers are absent.
