Citizens can report their complaints to the Ministry of Justice
At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to constitutional legislation and regulations, Deputy Minister of Justice Orozbek Sydykov shared information about the measures of accountability concerning lawyers working at the state's expense.
Sydykov explained that if a lawyer represents the interests of the opposing side or commits other violations, the Ministry of Justice has the right to terminate the contract with them. In this case, the documents will be forwarded to the Ethics Commission of the Bar Association to initiate the revocation of the lawyer's license.
Additionally, the Ministry of Justice has proposed a draft law that clarifies the process for suspending the contract and temporarily removing a lawyer from handling a specific case. This initiative will allow for a more precise response to violations without depriving lawyers of the opportunity to work on other cases, which, in turn, will make the system more balanced and fair for both lawyers and citizens in need of assistance.
The Deputy Minister also noted that in 2025, 140 million soms were allocated for guaranteed state legal assistance. These funds were distributed among 464 lawyers who provided services for free.
