Deputy demanded to return the driver's license issuance reform for review

Bolot Ibragimov points out corruption issues in government institutions

During a session of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Bolot Ibragimov expressed dissatisfaction that the director of the institution responsible for issuing driver's licenses was unable to clearly articulate the authorities' position regarding the proposed changes.

“Two days ago, more than a hundred representatives of driving schools from across the country gathered in Bishkek waiting for explanations from the director. However, they received no information. The next day, he was invited to parliament, but he did not come, citing reforms that prevent him from attending. I held a meeting with the driving schools, listening to them for two hours,” Ibragimov reported.

He noted that the difficulties in issuing licenses are related to the interaction between driving schools and government agencies. According to him, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has facilitated corruption for many years by selling licenses, and is now starting to close private driving schools, creating a monopoly on education.

“There is significant misunderstanding among the population regarding the situation. Government agencies have an extremely negative image. If the director cannot clarify the situation, another representative should be invited for explanations,” the deputy added.
