Discussions are underway regarding fees for insurance and tinting for cars from Kyrgyzstan
During a session of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Dastan Bekeshev raised the issue of additional fees that Kyrgyz drivers must pay when passing through Uzbekistan.
He noted that when traveling from one part of Kyrgyzstan to another through Uzbekistan, motorists are forced to purchase insurance and pay for tinting, while Uzbek drivers do not face similar requirements from Kyrgyzstan.
First Deputy Foreign Minister Almaz Imangaziyev confirmed that this issue is known and is being discussed at the level of interstate relations. He added that the Kyrgyz side is already negotiating with Uzbekistan to abolish these fees.
According to the deputy minister, the Uzbek side is currently conducting internal procedures, and if the requirements are not canceled in the near future, Kyrgyzstan is ready to introduce mirror measures, establishing similar fees for cars with Uzbek license plates upon entering the country.
