At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet, Daniyar Amangeldiev, reported that the government's plans include transitioning thermal power plants to gas within one to two years.

He noted that the modernization of the CHP plants has been ongoing for several years, but this process requires time.

“At the moment, the CHP plants are not ready for such a transition. We are creating the necessary conditions and negotiating with Gazprom. As soon as all issues are resolved, we will proceed with the transition,” Amangeldiev added.

It is important to note that earlier, the Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, stated that the municipal authorities managing the CHP plants have no plans to switch to gas due to the potential sharp increase in heating tariffs.
