Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, described these negotiations as a successful start, emphasizing the need to continue the dialogue in an atmosphere of calm, without pressure and threats.
He added that further steps would be determined after consultations in the capitals of the participating countries and clarified that discussions on other issues with the USA are currently not being held.
The U.S. delegation was led by Stephen Witkoff, a special envoy of President Donald Trump. For the first time, a military representative also participated in these negotiations — Brad Cooper, head of the Central Command of the Armed Forces.
According to the Tasnim agency, Iran and the USA agreed to continue discussions on the nuclear dossier. Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported that a new round of negotiations is planned in the coming days.
After the meetings, the U.S. Department of the Treasury added 15 companies and two individuals linked to Iran to the sanctions list.
As reported by The Wall Street Journal, Tehran expressed its unwillingness to cease uranium enrichment, which is one of the main demands from Washington. Despite this, Iranian representatives confirmed their readiness for further negotiations and agreed on new meetings with the participation of Oman. It is noted that the positions of the parties remain virtually unchanged, and disagreements on key issues continue to be significant.
