During the meeting of the parliamentary committee on law and order, amendments to the Code of Offenses aimed at protecting consumer rights and combating the falsification of halal product labeling were approved.

Manufacturers using counterfeit certificates or otherwise misleading consumers will face penalties.

Sultan Akhmatov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, explained to the deputies that the new rules will help organize the halal goods and services market.

Committee members supported the need for enhanced control and the allocation of specialized areas in markets for halal-certified products.

For violations related to the confirmation of compliance of halal products and services, fines of 13,000 soms are proposed for legal entities. The authorized health authority will handle cases of violations in this area.

Additionally, the committee approved amendments to the Criminal Code concerning the fight against torture. The new version of Article 137 now complies with UN international standards and establishes responsibility not only for officials but also for citizens performing state functions.
