The American State Department has announced plans to allocate funding to support freedom of speech in European Union countries. This decision is driven by criticism from the U.S. of various regulatory initiatives, such as the Digital Services Act in Europe and the UK Online Safety Bill, as reported by Reuters.

Sara Rogers, Deputy Secretary of State, will embark on a tour of European cities to discuss these issues with representatives of official structures and civil society. She noted that her main task is to distribute grants aimed at supporting freedom of speech in regions of Europe.

The U.S. State Department plans to fund various organizations and institutions in Europe that will not only promote Washington's views but also counter perceived threats to freedom of speech, focusing on cities such as London, Paris, Berlin, and Brussels.

According to information provided by the Financial Times, the new grants will be directed towards supporting think tanks and organizations associated with the MAGA movement in several key European countries. This is expected to help spread "American values" and combat potential threats to freedom of speech.
