Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the information that the date for the presidential elections will be announced on February 24. He noted that he is hearing such claims for the first time, particularly during a conversation with journalists, referring to a recent publication in the Financial Times.

“I am hearing about the elections on February 24 for the first time. I only mentioned this from the Financial Times and now from you. I have repeatedly stated that elections will take place when the appropriate security measures are ensured,” he added.

The Financial Times reported that Ukraine has begun preparations for holding presidential elections and a referendum on a peace agreement with Russia. This became known after the U.S. administration urged Kyiv to organize the vote by May 15, threatening to otherwise deprive the country of security guarantees.
