Eldar Sulaymanov, representing the "Ata-Jurt Kyrgyzstan" faction in the Jogorku Kenesh, has initiated the process of voluntarily resigning his parliamentary powers. This decision will be reviewed by the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan at the upcoming meeting.
Although the official reasons for his resignation have not yet been announced, it comes amid a series of high-profile scandals. In particular, his ex-wife has accused him of domestic violence, to which Sulaymanov has firmly denied.
Additionally, journalist Bolot Temirov reports the existence of a network of fake accounts that were involved in discrediting the deputy's ex-wife on social media. These accounts had previously attempted to discredit other well-known figures, such as Shairebek and Tai-Muras Tashiev. However, following a warning from the press service of President Daiyrbek Orunbekov about potential criminal liability, the compromising materials were deleted, and the accounts themselves disappeared.
Eldar Sulaymanov became a deputy in 2021. It is expected that after the CEC's decision, his seat in parliament will be taken by the next candidate from his party's list.
