As part of a new recovery program for the Gaza Strip, with a total cost estimated at around 70 billion dollars, it was announced at the first meeting of the international "Peace Council" that 7 billion dollars have already been raised from a group of donor countries. Among these countries are Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Qatar, and the UAE. Additionally, the United States plans to contribute an additional 10 billion dollars, according to Reuters.
In addition to financial contributions, an international peacekeeping contingent consisting of several thousand personnel will be sent to Gaza. This group will be responsible for maintaining security and order in the region after the disarmament of local armed groups and the withdrawal of Israeli forces. International organizations are also involved in the implementation of the program: the UN will allocate 2 billion dollars for humanitarian needs, and FIFA will finance the creation of football infrastructure amounting to 75 million dollars.
Despite the substantial sums, the initiative faces challenges, as the governing council currently lacks representatives from Palestine and several Western countries. Nevertheless, the organizers intend to make this project a key foundation for long-term stabilization in the region.
