Today at the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova raised the issue of the need to provide food for detainees held in temporary detention facilities (IVS).

According to the parliamentarian, families of the detainees have approached her, expressing dissatisfaction that their loved ones are not receiving adequate nutrition in the IVS.

“Every day, relatives have to bring food three times, but some of it does not reach certain detainees. We must remember that detainees are not yet convicted of crimes. We must ensure their right to food,” Mavlyanova emphasized, addressing the representatives of the State Penitentiary Service (GSIN).

The Deputy Chairman of GSIN, Nurlan Sarchayev, reported that between 120 to 160 soms per day is allocated for three meals for detainees.
