The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Kyrgyzstan has decided to withdraw the draft law that proposed conducting on-site testing of traffic violators using tablets. This was reported by the press secretary of the president, Askat Alagozov.

According to him, President Sadyr Japarov instructed to cancel this document, taking into account the adequate criticism from deputies and the public.

The draft law stipulated that drivers who committed serious violations, such as speeding or driving in the opposite lane, would have to take a test consisting of six questions on a tablet from an inspector. In case of failure in the test, the driver would lose their license and be required to retake the test.

During the discussion in parliament, the initiative sparked heated debates. Deputies expressed concerns that testing knowledge on the roads could lead to increased traffic jams and create corruption risks due to the "human factor." Parliamentarians urged the MIA to first complete the digitalization of processes and improve mechanisms for recording violations.
