At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva addressed Aibek Mamyraliyev, head of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service, asking him not to mislead regarding fuel prices.

She noted that food prices are rising, despite the promises of the State Antimonopoly Service that the cost of meat will not exceed the established limit, which, according to her, is not true.

Surabaldiyeva also mentioned that the Association of Oil Traders predicts an increase in gasoline prices by 3 soms, and asked if this is accurate.

In response, Mamyraliyev stated that there are no plans to raise prices for AI-92 gasoline and diesel fuel in the next two months.

He added: "All conditions are met, there are sufficient reserves. On the contrary, compared to the beginning of the year, prices have even decreased."

In response, Surabaldiyeva recommended that he keep an eye on the news.

She emphasized: "A rise in gasoline and fuel prices is expected in Kyrgyzstan. The projected increase in March will be about 3 soms per liter. The main reasons are global trends, rising wholesale prices in Russia, and the exhaustion of quotas for duty-free fuel imports." She further added:

"There are 90 deputies sitting here. Why lie? It would be better to verify the information before making any statements. The media is reporting this. What are you doing if you don't know what's happening on the streets? You should be calming not us, but the people."

The head of the State Antimonopoly Service replied that he relies on official data.

Surabaldiyeva countered: "To be honest, the State Antimonopoly Service cannot control prices. As soon as the president and the GKNB stabilize the economic situation, prices will start to decrease. This needs to be communicated openly to the president. Let's stop deceiving each other and calming down."
