At the meeting of the committee on agrarian policy, water resources, and ecology at the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan, it was acknowledged that the condition of pastures in the country is extremely unsatisfactory. This statement was made during the discussion of the draft Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Breeding in Animal Husbandry of the Kyrgyz Republic."

Alisher Kozyuev, a deputy, raised the issue of the state of pastures with Zhanibek Kerimaliev, who previously headed the Department of Pastures and currently holds the position of First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Industry.

Kerimaliev confirmed that the pastures are in a deplorable state and are subject to degradation. He noted, "Measures are needed to improve the infrastructure of pastures. We plan to select one of the regions for a pilot project to combat degradation. Previously, pastures were under the control of the ayyt committees, which were supposed to carry out the necessary work on the ground. However, after the pastures were transferred to the management of the ayil okmotu, the funds collected for improvements were not used for their intended purpose, which worsened the situation. We intend to monitor that all funding goes towards the actual improvement of the pastures," he added.

Agreeing with the deputy minister's opinion, Kozyuev noted that many pastures are overgrown with poisonous plants, and in some areas, there is a lack of forage grass for livestock. He emphasized that the funds collected for the development of pastures were not directed towards their improvement. "If the pastures are transferred to the balance of the ayil okmotu, it is necessary to strengthen control to ensure that the funds are used for their intended purpose," the deputy concluded.
