Parliament approved the agreement for the construction of schools with a loan from Saudi Arabia

At today's meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the second reading of the bill concerning the agreement for the construction of educational institutions using a loan from Saudi Arabia took place. This bill, titled "On the Ratification of the Loan Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Saudi Development Fund for the project 'Construction of Public Schools' Phase 2," was signed on October 9, 2025, in the capital of the country, Bishkek.

The Minister of Construction, Nurdin Oruntaev, reported that within the framework of the second phase of the project, Saudi Arabia will allocate 50 million US dollars, which will be directed towards the construction of new schools in Bishkek and the Chui region.

According to the minister, the loan will be provided for a period of 25 years and will be used to build five new schools and seven additional educational buildings in Bishkek, as well as two new educational institutions in the Chui region, which will accommodate between 150 and 1,000 students.

The project is expected to begin implementation in 2026 and be completed in 2029, with two years allocated for construction and one year for the warranty period.

The head of the Ministry of Construction emphasized that the first phase of this project was successful. The deputies expressed their support for the bill and stated the need to include in the next phase of construction those schools in the regions that are most in need of new buildings.
