Madhusudhan Gottumukkala, the acting head of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in the U.S., uploaded official documents to ChatGPT, which made them accessible to users and developers, as reported by Politico citing its sources.

After his appointment, Gottumukkala requested permission to use the public version of ChatGPT, which had previously been prohibited. In the summer of 2025, he uploaded official documentation, none of which was classified, although many were marked "for official use only."

According to sources, several automated security threat warning systems were triggered after the upload. As a result, an internal investigation was initiated, but its findings remain unknown.

It was previously reported that Gottumukkala did not pass a polygraph test conducted by his subordinates, which led to the dismissal of staff members, but he himself remained in his position.
