A baby, aged 1 month and 22 days, was urgently delivered to the Uzgen Territorial Hospital, where, unfortunately, he later passed away.

Preliminary data indicates that before being admitted to the medical facility, a hijama procedure was performed on the child's back.

According to information provided by the Uzgen Hospital, the baby was admitted on January 20 after 10:00 PM, with a diagnosis of "post-hemorrhagic anemia."

Reports suggest that the boy was born on November 11, 2025, in the village of Ak-Zhar, located in the rural district of Kara-Shoro in the Uzgen region. Doctors noted that his hemoglobin level dropped to 43, indicating a serious loss of blood. "There were wounds on the child's back. Initially, the parents concealed this and stated that he had stopped breastfeeding and had turned very pale. During the examination, medical staff discovered injuries on the back of the body, after which the parents admitted to having performed hijama," said hospital representatives.

A blood type was determined for the baby, and donor blood was prepared, with the transfusion starting around 1:00 AM. The doctors did everything possible to provide intensive care.

However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, the infant passed away on the morning of January 21 from post-hemorrhagic anemia and hemorrhagic shock.

Hijama is a traditional method of bloodletting, in which special vacuum cups are applied to the skin, followed by small incisions to allow blood to flow out. This procedure is usually performed in the lower back, neck, or shoulder areas. In official medicine, hijama does not have scientifically proven effectiveness as a treatment method.
