A 14-year-old resident of the city of Karakol in the Issyk-Kul region, Sara Fynchin, has been engaged in alpine skiing for nine years.

She was born on May 30, 2011. She studies in the 9th grade at school No. 2 named after Baisara uulu Kydyr Ake. Her mother named her Sara in honor of her grandmother, who shared the same name. The girl was named after her as a sign of respect and memory. Today, sports for her is not just a hobby, but a way of life.

The choice of sport was not accidental. Sara's older brother was involved in skiing, and from an early age, she looked up to him.

“I chose alpine skiing because my older brother practiced this sport. Since childhood, I asked my parents to let me go with him to training. Gradually, this sport captivated me as well. Over time, skiing became an important part of my life,” Fynchin shared.

The athlete's first competition took place when she was only 7 years old. At that time, she took first place.

“That moment was truly special for me. The certificate from that competition is still kept separately from the others — in a frame, next to my medals. Every time I look at it, I remember that it was from this start that my sports journey began,” she said.

Before the start, the athlete always feels nervous, but she admits that it helps her to gather herself and focus.

“I get nervous before the start, but it helps me mobilize. I try to fully concentrate on the course, on each element that I have to go through. At the moment of the start, all unnecessary thoughts disappear, and I just do my job,” Sara said.

According to her, the most challenging aspect of sports is the psychological side. It is necessary to be able to cope with anxiety, expectations, and great responsibility, especially in important competitions. In alpine skiing, sometimes one run determines everything. Accepting defeats is also not easy. Despite the support and words that losing is normal, for her, a true victory is first place. Everything else she sees as a reason to work even harder. However, it is the defeats that teach not to give up and to keep moving forward.

Recently, S. Fynchin competed in the age category for those born in 2011-2012. Among participants from Naryn, Karakol, and Bishkek, she took first place, confirming her high level of preparation.

At the same time, the athlete does not single out any one most significant victory. Each competition and each medal is important to her in its own way — they are steps in her growth and experience. Sara is confident that her main achievements are still ahead.

Over the years of training, she has had several coaches who played a significant role in her development. For the first five years, she trained at the private club "Krokus" under the guidance of Irina Viktorovna Volkova and Ilya Nikolaevich Kizilov. They instilled in her a sporting character and an interest in professional sports. For four years, she has been training at the city children's and youth sports school (DYuSSh), where her coach is Sharshen uulu Ulan. Training takes place daily.

“We train every day: we start with a warm-up, then work on the slope, refining and correcting our technique,” she noted.

Studying and sports occupy almost all her time. Sometimes she has to ask to be excused from lessons to make it to training, and sometimes there is not even time for a snack. However, Sara tries to manage everything and not lower her standards.

The main support for the athlete is her family: her older brother, younger brother, and younger sister.

“My family and loved ones are my main support. They share my emotions after each start, celebrate my victories, and help me cope with difficulties. They are always there and genuinely rejoice in every success of mine. Thanks to their belief in me, I can set new goals and not be afraid of challenges. Their support is invaluable to me,” she added.

Sara does not have one specific idol, but she is inspired by many high-level athletes — their technique, hard work, and determination. Since childhood, she has dreamed of competing in major international competitions and one day taking a prize at serious events.

“Since childhood, I have wanted to participate in major competitions, achieve new results, and step by step move to the international level. It is important for me not to stop at what I have achieved and to continue working. One of my goals is to take a prize at international competitions. At that level, the competitors are much stronger, so I have to work even harder on myself,” the athlete says.

Today, S. Fynchin is fully focused on sports. For her, it is not just training and competitions, but a whole world to which she dedicates almost all her time.

“Dream boldly, train hard, and never stop on the way to your dream. Every girl who is ready to put in the effort and believe in herself can become a champion,” she said.
