The report also predicts that by July 2026, the number of migrants may decrease to 321,000 people. If this trend continues, for the first time in the last 50 years, the number of departing migrants in the U.S. will exceed the number of incoming ones.

Additionally, the Bureau noted a slowdown in population growth: from July 1, 2024, to July 1, 2025, the increase was only 1.8 million, while in the previous period it was 3.2 million. This data reflects the lowest population growth since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since his inauguration in January 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump has advocated for stricter immigration policies. Last week, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem reported that during the year of the president's administration, about 3 million illegal migrants left the country. Of these, 2.2 million left voluntarily, while more than 675,000 were forcibly deported, as she noted in her social media post on X.
