In 2025, investigative authorities in Uzbekistan unjustly accused nearly 16 thousand people

During the reporting period, 63,177 criminal cases involving 79,554 individuals were examined in Uzbekistan. As a result, 63,340 citizens were found guilty, of which 18,816 received prison sentences.

Additionally, 422 people were acquitted and rehabilitated, while 8,085 citizens were released from the courtroom immediately after the verdict was announced, as their sentences did not involve imprisonment. Conditional sentences were given to 993 defendants. The reconciliation institute also assisted 13,200 individuals in avoiding criminal liability.

Among the convicted, there were 55,829 men and 7,511 women. Among the convicted were 23,973 young people, including 2,431 minors. Citizens over 60 years old accounted for 2,830 individuals.

The largest share of the examined cases consisted of crimes related to fraud, traffic violations, and thefts. There were also illegal actions involving drugs without the intent to sell, embezzlement, forgery of documents, illegal drug trafficking for sale, pimping, cultivation of prohibited crops, and intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm.

The majority of criminal cases were examined in Tashkent, as well as in the Fergana, Tashkent, Samarkand, and Namangan regions.
