
In 2025, Uzbekistan recorded a decrease in both birth rates and the number of marriages, however, the number of marriages with foreigners has been steadily increasing for several years, according to information from podrobno.uz.
Marriages
In the first half of 2021, 300 marriages with foreigners were registered in the country. In 2022, this figure rose to 1,900, and in 2023 it was 1,800. By 2025, the number of such unions reached 3,400.
At the same time, the number of marriages between citizens of Uzbekistan continues to decline. In 2025, 267.1 thousand marriages were registered, which is a decrease of 1.7% compared to 271.8 thousand in 2024 — the lowest figure in the last 15 years.
It is noteworthy that marriages among people over 30 years old are less frequent: in 2025, there were 39.9 thousand such cases, which is 6.8% less compared to the previous year. The majority of marriages occur among those under 30 years old — 227.3 thousand.
Birth Rate
In 2025, 884.5 thousand children were born in the country, which is a decrease of 5.3% compared to 926.4 thousand in 2024. The decline in birth rates is observed in almost all regions.
The highest number of newborns was registered in Samarkand region — 105.8 thousand, followed by Kashkadarya region with 99.0 thousand and Fergana region with 98.0 thousand.
The lowest number of newborns was recorded in Navoi region — 24.1 thousand, Jizzakh region — 36.7 thousand, and Karakalpakstan — 38.6 thousand.
In Tashkent, 71.4 thousand children were born, and in Tashkent region — 63.5 thousand, both figures lower than the previous year.
There is also a trend towards late parenthood: in 2025, 6.1 thousand women became mothers after the age of 40, and about 600 men became fathers after the age of 60. The oldest father this year was 81 years old.
The number of twins is also increasing: in 2024, there were 21.1 thousand cases registered, and in 2025 — 21.8 thousand.
