According to information announced by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, Russia has carried out a large-scale attack on the country's key energy infrastructure. The report states that the strikes were aimed at substations and power transmission lines with voltages of 750 kV and 330 kV, which play a crucial role in Ukraine's energy system, as well as at the thermal power plants Burshtyn and Dobrotvor.
As a result of these actions, the staff of the nuclear power plants were forced to unload the energy blocks. Emergency shutdown schedules covering 4.5–5 queues were introduced in various regions of Ukraine, while special shutdown schedules are in effect in the eastern and northern regions.
The energy system operator "Ukrenergo" has sent a request for emergency assistance to Poland. Energy workers are ready to begin restoration work as soon as the security situation allows, but as of the time of writing this report, the attack is still ongoing.
