
The incident occurred during a mass competition at the temple complex, where participants dressed in loincloths fight for wooden sticks called "shingi." According to local beliefs, these sticks bring good luck. The police reported that the stampede began when the lights went out in the main hall of the temple and the sticks were thrown into the crowd. According to medical reports, all the injured were taken to the hospital, three of whom are in serious condition and unconscious.
The festival organizers stated that about 10,000 people participated in the event this year. After the incident, they apologized, acknowledging that the safety measures were insufficient to prevent the situation.
