On February 26, in Hubei province, at the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, a woman named Dili from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region gave birth to five children — one boy and four girls.
The birth occurred at 28 weeks and 6 days via emergency cesarean section. The weights of the newborns ranged from 870 to 1030 grams. More than 20 medical professionals with various specialties participated in the operation.
Currently, both the mother and the children are in stable condition; the infants are placed in the neonatal intensive care unit, where they are being monitored.
According to doctors, the likelihood of a natural pregnancy resulting in quintuplets is very low, estimated at one case in tens of millions, which has led to this event being referred to as a "miracle among miracles."
It is also reported that the woman had previously been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome; however, pregnancy occurred naturally after a course of treatment.
