
According to the new rules, foreigners who have served in the Armed Forces of Russia and violated the law will face punishment in the form of mandatory work for a period of 100 to 200 hours or an administrative fine.
If they violate the rules of conduct at sporting events, they may be subjected to an administrative ban on attending such events for a period of one to seven years.
The initiative was approved by the State Duma on March 11 and then supported by the Federation Council on March 18.
Also, in early March, Putin signed a law that prohibits the extradition of foreign citizens who are serving or have served in the Russian armed forces outside the country.
Foreigners have been able to sign contracts for service in the Russian army since November 2022, and stateless persons since July of last year.
