In 2025, the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund reimbursed 409.7 million soms for medications provided under subsidized prescriptions.
According to the fund, thanks to these payments, many Kyrgyz citizens with insurance were able to receive necessary medical assistance, paying only a portion of the cost of the medications.
“Subsidized medications are prescribed only by family doctors based on medical indications. They are issued through electronic prescriptions that correspond to a directory with more than 800 names of medications,” noted representatives of the fund.
“The program is available exclusively for insured citizens, and obtaining medications is only possible at pharmacies that cooperate with the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund,” the organization added.
It should be noted that the cost of medications is partially covered: the patient pays a certain amount themselves, and the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund compensates up to 50% of the cost of the medication in the form of a discount.
This approach makes treatment more accessible and alleviates the financial burden on families, allowing patients to adhere to prescribed therapy without interruptions.
The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund urges citizens to monitor their insurance status and consult family doctors for advice and prescriptions for subsidized medications.
