At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with issues of industry, transport, energy, architecture, and construction, the deputies unanimously supported amendments to the Law "On Renewable Energy Sources" in the second and third readings.

According to the current version of the law, renewable energy source (RES) facilities were required to allocate 1% of the total electricity generated to local self-government bodies. Now, the Ministry of Energy proposes to change this mechanism so that 1% of the revenue generated from electricity sales is directed to local budgets.

Additionally, the bill mandates RES enterprises that utilize solar and wind energy to install energy storage systems, which must account for at least 30% of the installed capacity.

The document also states that within the framework of an investment agreement or a public-private partnership contract, during the preferential period, the maximum tariff may be set in foreign currency.
