On February 4, the head of the President's Office of Kyrgyzstan, Kanbek Tumanbaev, met with entrepreneurs from the Osh market, where he detailed the upcoming relocation and the future of the freed-up space. He noted that a modern park will be created on the territory of one of the largest bazaars in the country, and a new medical facility is planned to be built at the site of the "Kiyal" market.
According to the official, the main stage of the relocation of trading areas is expected in the summer of 2026. The opening of the new complex, located at the intersection of Fuchik Street and the Bypass Road, is scheduled for spring. Tumanbaev assured entrepreneurs that the old market will continue to operate as usual until the new site is fully ready. The authorities intend to make the transition as comfortable as possible to reduce social tension.
The head of the President's Office emphasized that the conditions at the new location will be significantly better than at the current one. All entrepreneurs will receive trading spaces while retaining their previous square footage, with priority given to those already working at the Osh market, and the remaining areas will be offered to other interested parties.
The issue of transportation accessibility was also addressed: to ensure connectivity with the new trading hub, the city authorities will purchase 180 new buses. Tumanbaev assured that neither sellers nor buyers will face difficulties reaching the new market. The main goal of this reform will be to create modern conditions for trade and to establish a new green zone in the city center.
